What it is
Our visiting paediatric dentist sees children on Saturdays. First visits are mostly a chance to explore the chair, count teeth and meet the team.
Preventive care such as fluoride varnish and fissure sealants helps protect teeth while children are still learning to brush well.
Who it’s for
- Babies and toddlers, from their first tooth
- Children due a check-up
- Children who are nervous after a difficult visit elsewhere
- Thumb-sucking, or adult teeth coming in crooked

Questions
Good to know
Are milk teeth worth treating?
Yes. Milk teeth hold space for adult teeth and help children chew and speak. Untreated decay can cause pain and infection and can affect the adult teeth underneath.
Can I stay with my child?
Of course. Younger children often sit on a parent’s lap for their first visits.
